The  choice  of  external  com- ponents determines your amount of  balancing  current.  The  peak inductor current is determined by the  cell  voltage,  inductance  and on-time.  The mean  current  from source  cell  over  the  cycle  equals 0.5 x (peak current) x duty cycle.
